It's all coming together...

When I formed this idea a few months ago, I didn't know how it would work out. You know that feeling? Big ideas, big dreams, but how does it become a reality? We've slowly gotten the word out, and donation boxes were placed. After a few weeks, they began to fill. My first inventory was promising. I ended up with 58 pairs of shoes that could be "rehomed" to people in need. It's not a huge number, but that is still 58 men, women and children that will have a decent pair of shoes on their feet as the weather starts cooling.
I sent out the inventory to several organizations at the end of last week. I had three that responded and were happy to have anything that I could provide. Today, I made my first delivery. As I walked up to the entrance of the Winston Salem Rescue Mission, my heart was full. I may not be dropping off much, compared to larger organizations. But, the heart of myself, and of my small boys are in every pair of shoes we have collected and inventoried. I'm teaching my boys a lesson on giving. They may be too young to fully comprehend, but I hope this is something they will grow with. I hope they fully realize the impact they can make, no matter how small the deed.
So, for this, I thank you. Your donations are making an impact, one person at a time.  Your old shoes are taking on "new life".  <3 Christine

Shoe Inventory 8/27/15

Our first shoe drive is underway, and I'm excited with the results so far! I have sent an email to all of the charities I have been reaching out to, and let them know what I have available. The shoes will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The first organization to contact me with a specific size need will get that pair of shoes. I will update and email out the list weekly, as well as posting here on the blog and to Facebook. Please share this, and get the word out. We want to distribute these to those that need them as quickly as possible. I should be able to deliver them pretty quickly. Thank you again to everyone that is partnering with me to make this happen!

August Update!

Our first Shoe Drive is underway, and has been a great success so far! As of today, we have 37 pairs of shoes ready for distribution! That's 37 people that won't have to go without, as fall approaches.

  • I will be updating our official inventory, and posting it soon. It will also be distributed to all the local charities that I have reached out to, so we can start getting them distributed.
  • As we start getting shoes in, I have found another need. If you have new or used (very good condition) shoe laces, I have several pairs of shoes that I need to replace them on. Just drop them off at the closest drop box location, and we will put them to use!
  • Area schools are heading back this week, so I will be reaching out to guidance counselors in the coming weeks to see if they know of any needs within their schools.
  • I still have several donation boxes that I can put at area businesses, so please let me know if you have a location that can host a box.

Thank you again to all that have donated, or have reached out to me to help!

Partner Drop off locations needed in North Carolina!

Last week, our flyers and our donation boxes came in for the North Carolina area. We made contact with several possible drop off locations in the "Piedmont/Triad" area, and boxes are being put into place this week! I'm so thankful for the positive response I have been getting, and that there are so many people out there as excited about this project as I am.
I have about 8 more boxes ready to go. If you know of a business that will be willing to help, and allow us to place a box, please use the contact form at the side of this page, and I will get it set up!

Here is how it works:
  • Donation boxes are provided by us, and clearly labeled.
  • Donation boxes are 40 to 50 gallons, but do not take up much space.
  • I will leave the donation box at your location for as long as you allow, or for as long as we are receiving shoes.
  • I will come by once a week, and check the donation box and collect any shoes.
  • If the box happens to fill up before the week is up, (wouldn't that be awesome!?) you can call me and I will come and collect the shoes then.
  • Partners are listed on our blog, and get a shout out on our Facebook page each week that the box is in place.
  • We ask that you advertise the donation box as much as possible, by sharing through social media, or any other means of communication you have within your business. Newsletters, emails, flyers, etc. We are looking for men, women AND children sizes.
That's it! All shoes that are collected are inventoried, and we reach out to the local charities to let them know what sizes we have available. We then deliver the shoes to those charities so they can place them directly into the hands of the person in need.
School is starting up soon, and I am sure we will see needs increase then. Please help us to get the word out so we have shoes for kids on hand, when they are needed.
Thank you again for your support! ~ C

Can you help?

Do you have running or athletic shoes you can no longer use for running, but are still in great condition? They could be so much help to those in need!! Similar organizations send them overseas or resell them. But, there are people right here in your own "backyard" that can use them. I want to put your shoes directly in the hands of someone who needs them. Women's Shelter, Homeless Shelter, Boys and Girls club, Schools, etc.

Here is where we can use your help:
1) Would you like to partner in your area?
2) Do you or anyone you know have experience setting up a non-profit?
3) Do you have any shoes you can donate?
4) Do you know of an organization that has people in need?
5) Do you know of an organization that would be interested in letting us put a donation box on site?
Use the contact form on the side of the page to message us!

Welcome to "The Green Sole Project!"

The Green Sole Project

Green is the color of life, and associated with growth, harmony, freshness and safety. The color green soothes, relaxes, alleviates depression, nervousness and anxiety. It offers a sense of renewal, self control and harmony.

The Green Sole Project is here to recycle your old running shoes, by donating them to those in need. You may have worn them until they needed to be replaced for running, but for someone that has no shoes they could be of great value.

The Green Sole Project does not donate to just one organization, or ship shoes overseas. We reach out to all local organizations to see what their current need is, and provide your donations based upon that information. This way, we know every pair of shoes goes to someone that is in need of them. They will not be donated to an organization that will resell them. They will be placed directly in the hands (or feet!) of those that need them.
Please contact me if you know of an organization in need, or if you are interested in donating your old running shoes. Use the contact form on the side of this page, and we will get back to you as soon as we can!
